Student actions
- Check the official NMC list before joining a medical college in India.
- Do not rely only on college websites, advertisements or recognition letters.
- Contact NMC directly where verification is needed.
- For foreign medical education, verify FMGL compliance rather than looking for an NMC-approved foreign university label.
NMC approval requirement for Indian medical colleges
The advisory states that only medical colleges listed on the official NMC website are legally permitted to offer MBBS and other medical-degree programmes in India.
This "NMC approval is mandatory" wording applies to institutions offering MBBS and medical degrees in India. A foreign university should not be described as NMC approved; its programme must comply with the FMGL Regulations, 2021.
Singhania University, Rajasthan
The advisory described the university as being under legal scrutiny for allegedly offering MBBS without NMC recognition and referred to the pending case "Ranjana Jangra and others v. State of Rajasthan and others, SBCWP No. 7682/2022."
All such statements should be attributed to the NMC advisory.
Sanjiban Hospital and Medical College, Howrah
The advisory said NMC had learned that this institution was running a medical course without Commission authorisation and that legal action was being taken.
